High quality Japanese wood and ivory sculpture, Meiji period (1868-1912). Wooden figurine painted with lacquer and gold in the MAKI-E technique and set with colored mother-of-pearl on the entire garment and the trunk on which the bird stands. The Geisha’s face, hands, feet and the bird are made of ivory.
