A DECORATED PLATE, Mayan culture, Peten/Yucatan. Ca. 500 – 900AD. Large, multicolored, footed plate decorated with central underworld figure surrounded by smoke scrolls. Probably associated with bloodletting ceremony. Diameter: 33.5 cm. Reference: Old Gods and Young Heroes: The Perlman Collection (Plates 8, 13, 17, 47, 48).
